Gold/platinum credit card and Greek Crisis

The current Greek financial crisis is very much akin to a person who is trying to cling on to his gold credit card that he can't afford. The worst thing is that he has to depend on the sympathy of his richer neighbors to lend him more money to pay off the interest he owed.

The Personality Cult

Below is a snippet taken from Alexander Elder's book "Trading for a living":-
Most people give lip service to their wish for freedom and independence. When they come under pressure, they change their tune and start looking for"strong leadership." Traders in distress often seek directions from assorted gurus.
When I was growing up in the former Soviet Union, children were taught that Stalin was our great leader. Later we found out what a monster he had been, but while he was alive, most people enjoyed following the leader. He freed them from the need to think for themselves.
"Little Stalins" were installed in every area of society-in economics, biology, architecture, and so on. When I came to the United States and began to trade, I was amazed to see how many traders were looking for a guru their"little Stalin" in the market. The fantasy that someone else can make you rich deserves its own discussion later in this chapter.
Even though this book is about trading in financial markets, these words captured my attention. It summarizes how most people behave when facing challenges. How often we have fantasy which are beyond our mental and physical abilities yet we failed to acknowledge our own short comings and limitations. On the flip side of it, it was these fantasies that has fueled our desire to survive Taking them away, maybe, some people will find live no longer worth living.

1. Be passionate about what we do and wanting it badly
2. Extend our comfort zone to accommodate what we need to do
3. Lies and Luck Don't Work
4. Install Goals (Precise)
5. Enjoy Hard Work
6. Be very very persistent
7. Expect Failure. Failure is not scary, failing to start is.
8. Believe in yourself

These 8 principles are very basic and sounded very simple. The real challenge is to be able to stick to it persistently. That is make or break for anyone.

Changre Your Attitude and Emotions To Advance

Take a look at how countries doing and try to reflect on us. Countries with rich culture and history is not necessarily the richest countries. Countries with rich natural resources are not necessarily rich. Why?

One reasoning is that when you have things come to you easy, you tend to lose them easily. You would not treasure them or appreciate them. On the other hand, many countries with limited natural resources enjoy high standards of living. Then have hardworking and competitive population. Are these caused by the environment? That could be true. But more importantly, the success depends on their attitude.

I am going to share what I learned about how to change our attitude but resetting our brain (mind). Too often, we are paralyzed by our fear and worries. Worries and fears prohibit us from taking positive actions to achieve better life for ourselves (in terms of happiness). Here is a way to get rid of our fears and worries and start to live a life with purpose and focus.

Step One:
Write down a list of "TO DO LIST"
Business or personal, big or small. All to be recorded.

Step Two:
Write down all the things you want in life but has not gotten them yet. Again, this has to be all inclusive. Major or minor goals and dreams.

Step Three:
Write down all the worries you have and next to each worry, write down the worst case scenario if that really happens.

After writing down all the worst case scenarios, you will be able to analyze the worst situation that you can come to. This will be the maximum risk in life that you will face. Next, you can plan a new set of action plans based on what you can take. Write a new action plan and TO DO LIST with the Maximum Risk you will potentially face in mind.

Now you can have peace of mind to do what you set out to do.

Why some are rich and others are poor?

A friend sent me the following message:

To reflect and... Act.

The difference between the poor countries and the rich ones is not the age of the country.

This can be shown by countries like India & Egypt, that are more than 2000 years old and are poor.

On the other hand, Canada, Australia & New Zealand, that 150 years ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries and are rich.

The difference between poor & rich countries does not reside in the available natural resources.Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw material from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.

Another example is Switzerland, which does not plant cocoa but has the best chocolate of the world.

In its little territory they raise animals and plant the soil during 4 months per year. Not enough, they produce dairy products of the best quality. It is a small country that transmits an image of security, order & labor, which made it the world’s strong safe.

Executives from rich countries who communicate with their counterparts in poor countries show that there is no significant intellectual difference. Race or skin color are also not important: immigrants labeled lazy in their countries of origin are the productive power in rich European countries.

What is the difference then?

The difference is the attitude of the people, framed along the years by the education & the culture. On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich & developed countries, we find that the
great majority follow the following principles in their lives:

1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
6. Work loving.
7. Strive for saving & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.

In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic principles in their daily life. We are not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us. We are poor because we lack attitude. We lack the will to comply with and teach these functional principles of rich & developed societies.

For individuals, the principle is the same. If you want to become rich, you need to have the above 9 qualities. You need to love to take actions and not afraid of failure. To succeed, you must be willing to sacrifice. Have a dream and goal and work towards it.

Why Foreigners Will Do Well?

Recently, there has been some resentment among the local against foreigners. Many locals blame foreigners for taking away their jobs. Is this unfounded? Maybe not. The facts are real. Many locals lose their jobs to foreigners.

This article, however, is not for me to grunt against the foreigners. I want to take a step back and examine the psychology behind. Why many foreigners tends to do better (at least, in personal perspective)? Why many locals seems to be unhappy?

When a person comes to a foreign land to make a living, the simple basis is that the new land has more opportunities than the home land. With that perspective in mind, this person is bringing with him or her a positive attitude. The very reason for coming is because things are better here. Whatever he gets from here, he treasures it more than the locals. This kind of attitude will certainly go well with the employers.

Locals, on the other hand, tends to take things for granted and become ungrateful. In the first place, most do not feel lucky being here. They are full of negative attitudes and complaints. This is natural. As such, negativity always creeps in and thus affecting their behavior. That makes employers upset. There are many positive things that are ignored and there are too much focus on the negative things. They must stop that! Start to focus on the good things and work and compete effectively. There is no time to grumble. Take positive steps and compete with the foreigners and beat them to their game. That is what you should be doing.

The fonts are larger now

I'd decided to change the fonts here to larger size. I am not trying to shout at you. Just that I realized that most of the people who hit 40 will have an additional small challenge on reading small fonts. Most of us starts to move away further to read because we cannot focus too near. But if the font is too small, we can't see from too far as well.

So, the solution is to have larger font. Does that make it better for you to read? Life is always filled with all kinds of challenges. At every stages of our life, we face different challenges. Very often, when we look back, we felt that those challenges in the past were not as tough as what we are facing now. As if life is getting tougher and tougher for everyone of us. Really, is that just a perception or reality?

I think, all are just our perceptions. Anything new is always viewed as more difficult.

Accepting what is bestowed on you.

Gladly and Graciously Accepting What You are Given

Learning and getting ready to receive or accept the great fortune that has been bestowed upon you can be the most difficult task that you have ever done. In our life, we long for good luck and good fortune. The question is, when these good luck and good fortune is being bestowed upon, will you be ready to accept it. Or, are you still having doubts about yourself. Are you going to doubt if that is for you? Are you still doubting whether you reserve it? In fact, I had come to realized this only recently. Looking back, I realized that there were many opportunities presented in front of me and I was not ready to take them.

I was not think logically at those times and I was not sure if I did reserve to accept those goodies. I was too humble and I used to believe that being humble is a good virtue. The believe was to give and not to take even you reserve it. Now I realized how wrong I was and I decided that from now on, I will gladly receive and accept any good things that comes along the way. There is no need to be too humble about it since you had work for it.

Another thing I learn was that if you want some thing, please ask for it.

Three Challenges in our life

Three things most people are having problem with are relationship, health and money. For ordinary people, at one point or another of their life, their will have to handle one of these problems if not more. Of course, you have only one of them to content with, you are extremely lucky. For most people, it is at least two if not three. Have all three problems is more like a norm than exception.

Hardly, you find someone who has none of the problems unless the person is mentally challenged. So, my point is: if you have any or all of the three problems listed, you need not worry. If are not alone. It should not make you unhappy. You can still be happy even if you have all the three problems. As I said, all you need to do is to learn to be happy regardless of the challenges you are facing right now. There are only two choices. One is to learn to face it and the other is to remain unhappy for the rest of your life. You need to make the choice.

In order to survive, we need to find the slightest reason to start to be happy. By constantly reminding yourself about your worthiness and be happy at every opportunity available, you will find yourself more product and positive and eventually more confident and able to focus more. Your life will start to improve and you will find that those challenges are no longer a concern anymore.

You will learn how to deal with them better. They won't just go away. Just that you know how to deal with them and not be badly affected by them.

Learn To Be Happy part 2: If you have 3 challenges, you are normal. You can still be happy!

Wealth Lesson 3: Keep Yourself Happy!

How To Be Happy

Are you happy with your life?

If your answer is yes, then, congratulations. You are one of the few people who truly understand what life is all about. You ought to share this secret with the rest of people.

If your answer is no, then, why not? Do you know what you are unhappy about?

Now let me guess. Firstly, you are not rich or you are not rich enough to be happy. You job sucks. Your boss sucks. Your spouse is not understanding. Your spouse is lazy. You are jobless and it has been more than a year and you just can't get a job. Your business is losing money and customers are just no coming. Your children is having problem with their school work and you are dead worried about their future.

The truth is you will never be happy even if you do not have any of your current problems. The most biggest problem that most people have is not about any of the problems above. All those problems can be resolve somehow. But the biggest problem is when you don't know how to be happy. The biggest problem is when you have forgotten about how to be happy. If you are one of those people who has forgotten how to be happy because all the problems listed above have
drained away all your enthusiasm about life, then, you need to listen to this.

YOU MUST START TO RE-LEARN HOW TO BE HAPPY!

Yes, you might have lost your skill to be happy. You need to relearn it as if you are a small kid of 2-3 years old. Try to recall the time when a small candy bar will make you happy and start to re-learn how to get that feeling back to you. From now on, find an opportunity to make yourself happy. Your friend gives you a compliment. Thank him and be happy for a while. Stop doubting that your friend wants to borrow money from you. You child makes a tiny improvement in his or her grades, congratulate him or her and be happy about it. Yes, re-learn the tiny things in life and start to be happy.

Learn & Practice hard and make it permanent in you.

Wealth Lesson 2: Steps to build pre-requisites to Success

The Simple Steps to Success in Your life

The first thing you need to do is to have full faith. 100% believing that you will achieve your goal. This may sound very straight forward but you will be surprised that how frequent you let negative thoughts creep into your mind. An in my opinion, this is the first and most difficult hurdle that you will face in achieving your goals. You must be very determined and very consistent in "cleaning up" your mind to ensure you have a very healthy and strong mind.

Take the first step now clean up all the negative beliefs and just simply said that you will achieve your goals. Even though you do not believe it now, it is alright. Just keep telling yourself 2 times everyday. In the morning when you wake up and at night before you sleep. And tell yourself that you will dream of success when you sleep. Start to think about what you will be doing when you have achieved your success. If you are thinking of being wealthy, then, think of what you will do when you have achieved that. What kind of house and what kind of cars etc. If you are thinking of helping people, imagine how the people who received your help will react. How their face will be beaming with lights of hope and how you greet them and how they greet you etc.

The next thing is to condition your mind for success. This is very logical step to do. In the first place, you mind is not aware of what you want to do. Don't think that your mind knows what you are thinking. Your mind actually has different "department" just like in a big business organisation that you work for. One department may not be aware of what the other department is doing unless there is communication. So, you need to communicate with different parts of the mind so that everyone is moving towards the same goal. At the same time, you mind has not been trained to do the task. You need to train it. You need to condition it. Your mind need to be prepared for it. So key conditioning steps will be given in the due course.

First Step: Strong Faith in Yourself

Wealth Lesson One: Create Wealth Consciousness

Creating Wealth Consciousness

Be grateful for whatever amount of money you receive. Do not feel bad about how small the amount is. Each and every little bit adds to the accumulation of great wealth. When you are grateful, you will be happy and your subconscious mind will be able to receive the signal of receiving money. So starting from now you must think positively about receiving any amount of money. No amount is too small. Imaging if you receive $0.01 one billion times. It will add up to
$10 million. That is how wealth is created. You have heard of super rich people earning money through selling small items earning a few cents per sales. But when the volume is huge, the amount adds up. Imagine you earn $0.10 each from 10 million people every year. You will get $1 million each year.

Make that change in your attitude now.

ESBI

E-S-B-I --> Cash flow Quadrants

Have you read the any book by Robert Kiyosaki? If you had, you would have been familiar about the 4 Cash Flow Quadrants - ESBI. For many people who has been in the E quadrant, myself included, there is a very fine line between S & B. Until you really get yourself into S quadrant, you may not appreciate truly the differences.

After getting into the S quadrant for about 2 months, I started to feel the constraints of being in the S quadrant. There is this feeling of not being able to grow. The lack of growth can be very stressful because it can cause you to be in a different kind of fear. To me, being in the S quadrant is no better than in the E quadrant. The uncertainty is the same if not higher. In fact, it can be worse than being in the E quadrant.

If your trade is job by job basis, you are like being in the E quadrant again and again. This can be even more frustrating than the E quadrant. The only consolation is that any frustrating jobs is a short term thing. But, what is the difference of being in the E quadrant? You can also seek out another employer just like in the S quadrant where you seek out another customer.

In conclusion, S quadrant is not much different from E quadrant. If you want to gain more freedom, you need to move to B or I quadrants as quickly as possible..

Stay Focus To Fight Negativity!

Life is so bleak...

Assuming you are now out of job and you have a nagging spouse who does not seem to understand what is going on. (If you are not married, assuming that you have a nagging parent.) If you are facing this situation, read on...

Let's face it, job hunting is not easy once you hit 40, least to say over 45. You know you will be discriminated against. You spouse doesn't seem to get it inside her/his thick scull. Frustrating, isn't it? It is as though you are lazing around and not willing to look for job. You are angry at your spouse for the lack of understanding and ignorant about the job market. You feel like you should have a divorce and be free from it. If you start to feel so, you are in danger of falling into negativity. Believe it or not, you are only one of many middle age mid-level management staff who had gone through exactly the same path before you. History repeats itself, doesn't it?

Danger Signs...

You start to blame everybody. You start to believe that you are not going to be able to find a job. Your savings are depleting and will be finished one day. You will have to sell away your belongings to live on. You are going to be left out of this society... STOP!

You are falling into Negativity Cycle! You must get out of it right now!

Look, there are so many negative elements around you. You must stay focus on what you want to achieve so that you will not be dragged into the black hole.

PROVEN FORMULA OF SUCCESS
To put yourself back on track, try this proven formula:
  1. Define Your Target for next 12 months in clear detail and write it down.
  2. Read it to yourself every morning and night.
  3. Each time you read, imagine that you have achieved it.
  4. Truly believe that you will achieve it. Tell yourself what you want to give away in order to achieve it. Example, 10 hours of work everyday, Give up holidays etc.
  5. Do this everyday for at least 3 months. You will start to see things improving.
  6. Whatever other people may say, you must keep your faith and belief that you will achieve your target.
This is a proven formula that has been used by many people to achieve what they wanted and planned for. Give it a try for 3 months. You have nothing to lose.

“You have to settle into the uncertainty of things and be comfortable with it. Never voice negativity even if things are not going well. Your world is changing, there’s always tomorrow, all will work out fine in the end…Powerful consciousness about life and money is only habit. Agree to change your habits if that’s what it takes.” -Stuart Wilde

Fighting the Ghost Within!

What is really making you unhappy? Is it your boss? Your colleagues? Your job? Your spouse? Your children? Your neighbour? If the answer is one of these, you need not be unhappy. Why? You can resolve all of these issues. You can change company so that you have new boss and new colleagues and new job. You can talk to your spouse, your children, your neighbour about how you feel and seek their understanding.

But, in most cases, external factors are not real cause for unhappiness. The fear within you is the major culprit. Let me tell you that the fear within is the ghost within and it is the most hidden cause of all unhappiness. It is so hidden that very few people in this world ever realised it. It is so hidden that most of the people take the blame on others. Most people, without realising the real reason for their unhappiness, make excuses for it. Some will blame it on their jobs. Some blame it on the lack of financial achievements.

When you examine deeper into it, you should start to ask these questions. Are you really short of money to spend? What is it that you are not able to do? What is stopping you to make more money since you need more money? Did you ever try to take on another job? Did you really think hard enough to generate more money? Have taken a stock of your skills that you can sell your service to make some extra money? I make $2000 extra by writing some programs for a few customers during the night. There is opportunities everywhere if you care to find them.

The key thing is to find out the ghost within you and kill it, overcome it. Do not live in blame.
